For David, coaching is a highly practical relationship - all about "getting things done" - for the individual and for the organisation. It's also an adventure for the individual being coached: a chance to take controlled risks and try new approaches, based on through analysis and challenging debate.
Of all the development options, David believes coaching delivers the highest value for money for senior executives "because it's highly personalised and fits in with the most of demanding working lives".
David, originally a human resources specialist, has operated as a member of senior executive business teams since the early 80s. He has held divisional board positions in a variety of sectors, including telecommunications and financial services. Much of this work had an international flavour, from start-ups and joint ventures through to global restructuring, and has spanned Europe, Asia and North America. Strategic and organisational change has been a constant feature.
After several years experience as a top level coach, David still gets "enormous satisfaction from seeing the practical effects of coaching enriching the personal and business lives of senior people". According to David, "In a period of rapid change and ambiguity, people need more than ever to have a clear idea of themselves and where they are heading".
