BOARD EFFECTIVENESS

At their best, boards offer good counsel, constructive challenge, meticulous governance, and strong strategic direction. But it is not always the case. Our clients tell us that a number of boards are ineffectual, and some even dysfunctional.

There has been much recent attention to good governance processes - but that is only half the story. Effective working relationships between Chairman and CEO, and between executive and non executive directors are also critical, as well as a full understanding of what each board member can bring to the team.

At Keary Harper, we know that every board is different, with their own unique set of market drivers, challenges and evolution. We work with boards to help them understand their strengths, weaknesses and improvement areas.

Our approach is tailored around each situation but may, for example, include structured interviews, organisation surveys, 360-degree feedback, individual and team coaching, development reports and improvement plans.
